diamond gameThe New York Mets could be looking for an outfielder in the coming days. Could they swing a blockbuster trade to really take their team over the top?

jilibayThe Mets are reportedly interested in Luis Robert Jr. of the Chicago White Sox. He has struggled this season and has $20 million club options for the next two years. He is unlikely to have his options picked up at this point and is essentially a rental. Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller suggested the Mets could be a landing spot for 2-time All-Star Steven Kwan.

aceph'Trading for a left fielder and shifting Brandon Nimmo to primary center fielder would solve that season-long woe for the Mets,' wrote Miller. 'But while Steve Cohen at least needs to be mentioned in any sort of bidding war, his reluctance to part with multiple prospects worth a darn is probably at an all-time high right now, watching from afar as the Cubs flourish behind Pete Crow-Armstrong—whom the Mets gave up to get Javier Baez and Trevor Williams four years ago.'

Kwan would solve a lot of the Mets' problems. Jeff McNeil would be able to stick at second base and they would have stability in the outfield. Tyrone Taylor would be a defensive sub and fourth outfielder.

However, the fact of the matter is, the team may not be willing to part with many of their top prospects. Kwan is under club control through 2027 and would be expensive.

Kwan is slashing .286/.351/.410 with nine home runs. He also plays elite defense in left field and would quickly make the Mets an even bigger threat in the National League.
